Ready to learn something new? VRG teachers are …

IMG_3753As teachers at VRG Djursholm get ready to welcome our students back … we are practicing “learning new.”

We believe that Art and Science go hand in hand when students are learning.  This year, we are focused on two specific aspects of this important approach:

Readiness to learn something new/Beredskap att lära nyttIMG_3756 (1)

Different forms of expression, learning styles and an openness for creativity/ Olika uttrycksformer, inlärningssätt och öppenhet för kreativitet

We believe these are important aspects of developing intellectual curiosity, academic perseverance as well as creative and critical thinking.

IMG_3754We are looking into the research of Carol Dweck, Alva Appelgren, brain-based learning, as well as the work of Franklin Covey regarding trust.  IMG_3758 (1)In addition, we will work together throughout the year both with our students and in focused study groups to further understand these aspects of learning …

We ended our first week of conferences with an inspiring video of some pensioners in New Zealand who absolutely were open to new forms of expression:

We are ready to learn the newest findings (and apply them …) of how we learn to best support our students … welcome back!

About kristylundstrom

I currently work as the Managing Director of Viktor Rydberg Schools. I am a student of learning. I am interested to see where it happens, when it happens, and how it happens. I am also a math and computer science teacher. I have lived in Belgium and in the USA. I really appreciate my multi-cultural environment - I believe it adds dynamics to our school.
